From February 1 to March 3, 2019, Museum Jan van der Togt is dedicating an exhibition to the latest work by Anneke Schat (1942), inspired by feature films. She has translated fragments from her youth into jewelry in a free and personal way.
With each design, Schat faced the challenge of giving a memory a spatial form. A tribute to the films of her youth. In addition to jewelry, the exhibition also features work on paper.
Schat has been active as a goldsmith for more than 50 years. From the outset, she has developed her own visual language through experimental design, making her work from different periods clearly recognizable. She is widely known, partly due to her design and creation of the Golden Televizierring, the most important television award in the Netherlands. Schat is constantly seeking innovation in her designs. In addition, she never loses sight of the ergonomic and spatial aspects of goldsmithing.
Anneke Schat will be present at the museum every Sunday during the exhibition to discuss her work.
Publication: The book "Inspiring Filmmoments - Goldsmith Art & Paintings" will be published to accompany the exhibition.
