The exhibition '50 Years of Glass' at the Rietveld Academy celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the glass department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and showcases masterpieces from the permanent collection and new work by young talent. The glass department at the Rietveld Academy was the first of its kind in Europe and remains one of the most important glass programs in the world. A leading program that has produced big names: from established names such as Mieke Groot, Richard Meitner, and Bert Frijns to recent graduates Yuna Choi and Aleksi Marjamaa. The Academy challenges students to experiment and innovate and to transcend the boundaries of the discipline with the material. Glass is central to recent graduates, in combination with other media and materials.
The exhibition '50 Years of Glass' at the Rietveld Academy was created in close collaboration with Jens Pfeifer, the current head of the glass department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy.
