Bas Meeuws - A photographic journey around the world

  • JAN Museum 50 Dorpsstraat Amstelveen, NH, 1182 JE Netherlands (map)

The young photographer Bas Meeuws creates beautiful, stylized photographic flower still lifes inspired by 17th-century painting. Meeuws composes his photos as the old masters did: flower by flower, all luxury and beauty. The result is layered work that transcends time. Meeuws has created new work especially for this exhibition in which he has selected and photographed art objects from the museum's glass collection. He has processed the objects in new digitally composed flower still lifes. The exhibition shows an overview of works from Meeuw's entire oeuvre, from all over the world, including from India and Taiwan.

On Sunday, October 6, 2019, at 3 pm, Jo-Ann Knop of Per van der Horst Gallery will provide an introductory tour of the Bas Meeuws exhibition.
