From April 14 to July 9, 2017, Museum Jan van der Togt presented the first museum retrospective of art photographer Micky Hoogendijk. The exhibition "Through the Eyes of Others" offered an overview of portraits that reflected the vulnerability and hidden beauty of people. At the same time, her first photo book of the same name was launched.

In 2009, Micky Hoogendijk received a camera from her mother. From that moment on, Micky began a continuous search for people and cultures with a special story. A search for the freedom to be who you want to be. Seeing through the eyes of another creates an atmosphere in which knowledge and experience can be exchanged.

Micky Hoogendijk's work is usually based on an encounter, dream, or subject that results in an explosion of ideas. Recurring themes include religion, society, androgyny, and mythology. Her powerful, iconic photographs provoke thought in the viewer, especially the mystical underwater images.

Micky Hoogendijk (1970) comes from a family of artists and developed a strong sense of creativity and aesthetics at an early age. Hoogendijk was a business partner of artist Rob Scholte and creative director of the Supperclub. She also spent many years in front of the camera as an actress and model. Micky has been living in America since 2010 and now works behind the camera as a photographer.

Micky Hoogendijk's independent work has been shown in recent years at exhibitions in Austin, Bogota, Houston, Istanbul, Cologne, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Santa Fe, Tokyo, and Washington. In the Netherlands, Eduard Planting Gallery presents her work at art fairs such as FOR REAL, KunstRAI, PAN Amsterdam, and Rotterdam Contemporary Art Fair.
