During Book Week—with the theme "My Generation" — , Museum JAN and the Amstelland Library are organizing a fun creative workshop. What would you save for the future? A wish, a drawing, a memory from today?
We are creating a personal time capsule: a glass jar filled with memories from today, to be opened again later. You write, draw, and collect small things that show who you are now. What do you like? What are your dreams? What would you like to know about this time in the future?
You are going to:
discover what a time capsule is
writing and drawing for your future self
collecting memories and fantasies
decorate a glass jar
a date to reopen your time capsule
This creates a personal and tangible memento that later feels like a gift to yourself.
If you have something small that belongs in your time capsule, bring it with you to the workshop.

About Book Week
The theme of Book Week 2026 is Generations. Book Week is about books, stories, and language that show how generations are formed. Whether you're a boomer or a zoomer, millennial, alpha, or X: your generation is primarily a feeling. About who you are and where you belong. That generational feeling grows when you're a teenager looking for your place in the world and in time. And it travels with you long after you retire.
Book Week runs from March 11 to March 22.
