Masterclass “The Art of Seeing” – with artist Christiaan Kuitwaard

How do you capture the memory of a place in a single image? How do you turn a landscape into more than just a record of what you see? During this exclusive masterclass, painter Christiaan Kuitwaard will introduce you to his way of seeing. Using (self-taken) photos of a landscape that holds meaning for you—whether close to home or from a trip—you’ll search for the essence of that place. We’ll paint on a small scale and take the time to slow down, simplify, and make choices. What do you leave out? What remains? Step by step, we’ll explore what makes the landscape special to you. Colors don’t have to be the focus; it’s precisely by leaving things out and simplifying that space is created for atmosphere, light, and memory. Under the guidance of Christiaan Kuitwaard, you’ll explore how to distill a personal landscape down to its essence.
