Introductory Tour: "Lita Cabellut x Goya – The Follies"

  • JAN Museum 50 Dorpsstraat Amstelveen, NH, 1182 JE Netherlands (map)

On Saturday, October 17, you can join an introductory tour of the exhibition *Lita Cabellut x Goya – The Follies*. Our guide will take you on a journey through the world of two artists separated by two centuries, yet asking the same questions—about power, fear, identity, and human vulnerability—through Goya’s historical etchings and Cabellut’s contemporary response to them.

The exhibition centers on the 22 etchings from Goya’s *Los Disparates* —his most enigmatic series, created shortly before his death in a Spain marked by political chaos and oppression. A dark, absurd dream world without a clear moral message, which has yet to be fully deciphered. The Spanish-Dutch artist Lita Cabellut responded to these etchings with monumental paintings, objects, and installations, based on her own interpretation. This results in an artistic yet confrontational dialogue within the exhibition space.
